A physician was crushed to death under the wheels of a moving train at South Sadevpur near Feni Railway Station yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as PC Banik, 65, a cardiologist at a local clinic and a resident of the area.
Railway sources said the accident took place when Dr Banik along with his wife was walking on the rail track early in the morning. At one stage, he fell down on the rail track while trying to hurriedly move away after he saw an approaching Chittagong-bound Turna Nishata train and crushed to death under its wheels.
However, Banik’s wife escaped unhurt as she managed to move out of the track. On information, GRP police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue.
