‘Anil Bagchi’r Ekdin’, Morshedul Islam’s film based on a novel by Humayun Ahmed, saw its Bangladeshi premiere on Friday at Bashundhara City’s Star Cineplex, to mark the 67th birth anniversary of Humayun Ahmed, before its release on December 11. Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Food Minister Advocate Kamrul Islam, noted educationist, writer and Humayun Ahmed’s younger brother Professor Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal and Chairman of Bengal Foundation Abul Khair were present among others at the premiere show.
After watching the premiere show, Kamrul Islam expressed his views, “In one word, the film is wonderful. The film portrays our Libation War in a simple way. I think the young generation should watch the film to be familiar about the scenario of the time of Liberation War.”
Muhammed Zafar Iqbal said, “Humayun Ahmed had the ability to express difficult issues in a simple manner through his writings. Here he presented the period of Liberation War very simply. I am thankful to Morshedul Islam, because he depicts the story in a very beautiful way.”
Produced under the banner of Bengal Creations, the film was shot in Dhaka and other different locations of the country. Aref Syed played the role of Anil Bagchi, while Jyotika Jyoti shared the screen as Anil’s sister in the film. Other important casts of the film include Gazi Rakayet, Farhana Mithu, Shahidul Alam Sachchu, A.M. Mohsin, Khalilur Rahman Quaderi and Misha Shawdagar, among others. Popular musician Sani Jubayer has directed the music of the film.
Before its country release, the film had its world premiere in ‘Colombo International Film Festival’ (November 6-11) in Sri Lanka and later in ‘World Film Festival of Bangkok’.
To note, ‘Anil Bagchir Ekdin’ is the first film that is going to be released based on any of Humayun Ahmed’s novels after his death.l
