IU law faculty gets new dean
UNB, Islamic University
Professor Halima Begum of Law department has been appointed as the new dean of Law Faculty of Islamic University in Kushtia.
IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif said that Vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari appointed her to the post for the next two years.
The new appointment was made as the tenure of the previous dean Professor Reba Mondol concluded recently, he said
UNYSAB conference held at RU

A four-day conference of United Nations Youth and Students Association of Bangladesh- Model United Nations (UNYSAB- MUN) was held recently at Rajshahi University (RU) campus aimed at educating the participants about effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy.
RU Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Abdus Sobhan addressed the opening ceremony held at Teachers-Students Cultural Centre conference hall as the chief guest while VC of Barishal University Prof Sadequl Arefin Matin spoke as guest of honour with UNYSAB MUN Secretary General Shammi Wadud in the chair. Proctor Prof Lutfor Rahman, Students Adviser Prof Laila Arjuman Banu and UNYSUB Trustee Board Chairman Syed Sheikh Imtiaz also spoke.
It will be a platform for the students to explore their ideas. Its the sixth session of UNYSAB MUN.
Youth engagement to build a green future free from polymeric ingredients is the slogan of the conference where more than 300 students and youths from various educational institutions throughout the country are taking part.
Its an academic simulation of the United Nations with a view to educate the participants about effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy.
Moreover, the delegates were facilitated with an opportunity to meet and learn the art of diplomacy from real diplomats. Through this event UNYSAB once again wants to raise consciousness among the school students and inspire them to take a role in creating a better future. In his deliberations, Prof Abdus Sobhan said all the students and youths should raise and convey the voice of the young generation regarding various social and global issues including the adverse impact of climate change besides strengthening the voice of socio-economic youth in addressing issues collectively.
Apart from this, the young generation should work for raising consciousness among the school students and inspire them to take a role in creating a better future.
Shammi Wadud told the meeting that UNYSAB is a voluntary youth and student movement for the United Nations. MUN is an educational simulation of the United Nations participated by the students who want to serve as delegates from different countries during the conference. What makes the MUN special than the other youth conferences is that it ensures that the participants are getting the floor for maximum time to speak and argue, which helps improve their public speaking and negotiation skills. Considering MUN conferences as the best possible way to introduce the UN system to the youth and the students, UNYSAB has been working to popularize the concept of MUN in Bangladesh since 2002, he added.
Bangladesh Model UN conference has a legacy of working on the issues related to youth and their role in sustainable development.
