Jamie’s initial target to play in semifinal

Bangladesh national team head coach Jamie Day, who has close touch with the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), knew about the draw and grouping of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football tournament.

Jamie termed Palestine as the strongest side in his group set the initial target to play in the semifinal.

Jamie Day, who is on leave expected to return Bangladesh on January 7 and will call the players to make the squad.

Jamie, who was talking over phone from London, said about the grouping that Palestine is tough team.

“We just have to take one game at a time. The first aim is to try get into semi-final.”

“As Palestine is the highest ranked in the Cup so really comes down to the match against Sri Lanka to see if we qualify.”

“Every team wants to get into final, African teams are going to be very strong physically. And if Burundi and Mauritius both qualify are ranked higher than us,” Jamie evaluated the African teams.

Training camp is expected to start from January 8, after coach’s returning to Bangladesh on January 7 when he is waiting for flight.

 “Will call 20 to 23 players with one or two changes, the team was visited in Oman,” Jamie also hinted to make changes in the squad.
