Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan yesterday said BNP is now being reorganised after committing mistakes in politics. “BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia wanted to establish democracy by killing people with petrol bombs. She said that she would not return home till the fall of the government. But, she had to return home bowing down her head,” he said. The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at the installation ceremony of the newly constituted regional committee of Segunbagicha Class-IV Government Employees Samity at Public Works Bhaban auditorium at Segunbagicha in the capital, reports BSS. Shahjahan Khan alleged that Khaleda Zia tried to ruin the democracy and the spirit of the war of liberation by unleashing terrorism and subversive activities in the country. In the prevailing situation, he said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a savoir stood beside
the people.
“We have always heard about or watched seeing the opposition in movement against the government. But, a situation was the reverse after the government launched movement against the opposition here in the country. We have liberated the country waging the war of liberation. We shall not bow down to those terrorists and militants as we are not cowards,” the minister said. Criticising the recent remarks made by BNP leadership on the prevailing situation at the National Press Club, Shahjahan Khan said, “They (BNP leadership) remarked that they did not believe in politics of sharing the National Press Club. However, they believe in politicisation as BNP leaders Mirza Abbas and Goyeshwar Chandra Roy occupied all the terminal offices of road transports across the country when BNP was in power. Likewise, BNP occupied the National Press Club.” Convener of the regional committee of Segunbagicha Class-IV Government Employees Samity Shahjahan Miah chaired the function. It was also addressed, among others, by newly elected councillor of City Ward-20 Farid Uddin Ahmed Ratan, president of Bangladesh Class-IV Government Employees Samity Md Abdul Khaleque.
