Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor MP called upon the country’s cultural activists to inspire young generations with patriotism by disseminating true national history through cultural movement and activities, reports BSS from Rangpur. “The cultural activists must come forward for continuous exhibition of programmes like dramas, songs, poem recitation and dance to inspire young generations through creating feelings and ideals among them about the Great War of Liberation,” he said.
The Minister said this while addressing a ceremony arranged by District Shilpakala Academy (DSA) on Town Hall premises here on Friday night on the occasion of staging the drama ‘Rangpur Town Hall Concentration Camp 1971’ as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Shilpokola Academy (BSA) under management of Rangpur DSA staged the drama produced by Paribesh Theatre and written and directed by Associate Professor of Rajshahi University Arif Haider. The drama has been written on concept of Director General of BSA Liyakat Ali Lucky about inhuman torture of Pakistani occupation forces on independence -seeker Bangalees at Rangpur Town Hall Concentration Camp and the mass grave there.
Acting President of district Awami League Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Liyakat Ali Lucky and Rangpur Area Commander and General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 66 Infantry Division Major General Masud Razzaque addressed as special guests.

President of Rangpur DSA Rahat Anwar, thousands of people from all walks in the society attended the ceremony and enjoyed the drama with huge enthusiasm till the midnight.
He said the young generations of the present times did not observe the atrocities committed by the anti-liberation and fundamentalist forces against the innocent Bengali nation during the War of Liberation in 1971.
He said the cultural activists should continue to stage dramas, make films and conduct more research on the War of Liberation to inform young generations about the genocide, torture, atrocities and crimes against the humanity committed on this soil in 1971.
“The anti-liberation forces have been killing writers, publishers, free thinkers, police and army men and we must defeat those brain- washed fundamentalist forces,” he said.
Earlier in the evening, the Minister attended a ceremony at Rangpur Chamber auditorium to accord reception to language movement veteran, valiant freedom fighter, educationist, journalist and pioneer of scouting movement Anisul Haque Payara as the chief guest.
