Tax commissioner arrested with bribe

Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested an official of Tax Commissioner in Bogura on Tuesday afternoon while taking bribe.

The arrested assistant tax commissioner was identified as Ovijit Kumar Roy of Circle-15 under the office of Income Tax office of Bogura.

A team of ACC, Bogura combined office arrested him red-handed from the location while he was taking bribe a local Yunuch Ali.

Yunuch Ali said that he sold some land few years back and wanted to show it in the income tax file but after contacting with the arrestee, he held the filed under his control and demanded bribe at Tk 50 thousand and later the victim Yunuch Ali informed the ACC, Bogura office and on their suggestion, he agreed to give him the bribe money.

Deputy Director (DD) of Combined ACC, Bogura Office Moniruzzaman led a team to arrest the tax commissioner and Yunuch entered the room of the arrestee at noon and handed him the bribe money.
