Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods, drugs, arms and explosives worth Taka 827,582,000 from the border areas and other places of the country in the month of December, 2019.
The seized drugs included 121,1130 pieces of yaba tablets, 38,351 bottles of phensidyl, 8,076 bottles of foreign liquor, 632 litres of locally made liquor, 861 cans beer, 847 kilograms hemp, 720 kilograms heroin, 79,661 pieces of senegra tablets, said a BGB press release here in the capital.
Among other seized goods included 2.98 kilograms of gold, 5, 651 pieces of metal jewelry, 148,671 pieces of cosmetics products, 4,763 pieces of sharee, 2,049 three-piece (woman’s cloth), 1,540 readymade garments, 99 metres of fabrics, two sculptures of touch stone, 21,153 cubic feet of wood, 5,139 feet wood, 996 kilograms of tea, 12 trucks, 15 pickup vans, two private cars, 27 CNG-run auto rickshaw and 42 motorcycles.
The seized arms included two pistols, two guns and 407 rounds of bullet. Besides, 324 people were held over drug trafficking and smuggling while 133 Bangladeshi citizens and 10 Indian citizens were detained for illegally crossing the borders in the last month.
