Rajshahi, Barishal students get new textbooks in festive mood

Primary and secondary level students got new textbooks in festive mood in the city and other adjacent districts today, the first day of the new year 2020. Book distribution ceremony has been arranged in every school to handover books among the students. In Rajshahi city, divisional, metropolitan and district level high officials launched the book distribution activities formally at a function held at Rajshahi Collegiate School.

Department of Secondary and Higher Education and Department of Primary Education jointly organised a book distribution function at Agrani School and College in the city. Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton attended and addressed the function as chief guest with Principal of the college Saiful Haque in the chair.

Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque, Divisional Deputy Director of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education Dr Shormin Ferdous Chowdhury, Divisional Deputy Director of the Department of Primary Education Abul Kalam Azad, District Education Officer and District Primary Education Officer Abdus Salam were present at the function. Mayor Liton said the present government has been distributing free books to the school students aimed at ensuring education for all to free the nation from the curse of illiteracy.

The meeting was told that more than 23.54 lakh students of 8,840 primary schools got around 1.12 crore books in the division. The students were seen very happy after getting new books on the first day of the year and we have kept five per cent books as buffer stock for meeting any deficit and for the newly admitted students.

Abul Kalam Azad told BSS that required number of books were sent to all the government and registered non-government schools in the district for distribution among the students. Rajshahi Collegiate School arranged a book distribution festival at its premises. Divisional Commissioner Humayun Kabir Khandakar distributed books as chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque in the chair.

District Education Officer Nasir Uddin said all the new books were sent to the respective schools by December 10 last and distribution of those has been started yesterday. A total of 45.84 lakh books are being distributed among 1,83,383 students in 590 schools and 203 madrasas in the district, he added.

Another report adds from Khulna:  The Textbook Festival Day -2020 was celebrated here yesterday with distribution of free textbooks to primary and higher secondary level school students. As part of the countrywide free textbooks distribution programme,

Department of secondary and higher secondary education of Khulna region organised divisional level books distribution programme at Khulna Zila School ground.

Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque inaugurated the ceremony as the chief guest by handing over textbooks among the students with deputy commissioner Md. Helal Hossain in the chair.

Staff Reporter adds from Barishal: Over 21 lakh primary and secondary level students of Barishal division got about two crore free books yesterday at a function of book Festival Day. DD primary and secondary office confirmed that  the book sent each and every of the 8974 education institute with in December 30 and all the student received books yesterday morning. Acknowledging the fact SM Faruk, DD primary education of Barishal division said that they have sufficient stock in reserved.

In Barishal, the book festival of primary level started at PTI Primary School premises yesterday morning. SM Ajior Rahman, DC Barishal presided over the programme while Barishal divisional commissioner Md Yamin Chowduri inaugurated the programme as the chief guest.
