Man held with foreign currency notes in Ctg

CHITTAGONG: Customs intelligence in a drive arrested a man with huge amount of foreign currencies from Station Road area in Chittagong on Friday night, reports BSS. The arrestee was identified as Jafar Ahmad, 45. Based on information, a team of customs intelligence arrested Jafar from a rented house in Station Road area around 12am and seized Tk 17 lakh and foreign currencies equivalent to more than Tk 2.5 lakh from him, said Mohammad Jakir Hossain, Deputy Director (DD) of the Directorate of Customs Intelligence. "Jafar is a whole sale agent of cigarette. “The customs intelligence also seized cheque books of different banks, which show abnormal transaction of money" Jakir Hossain said.  Legal steps would be taken against Jafar, said the police official.
