Husband jailed for killing wife

Gazipur: A court yesterday sentenced a man and his associate to life term imprisonment for burning his wife to death in Kapasia upazila of the district in 2000, reports UNB. The lifers were Nazrul Islam, and his associate Shahidul Islam, residents of Daura village in the upazila. According to the prosecution, Nazrul burnt his wife Hamida to death by pouring kerosene following a family feud in August, 2000. Later, Abdul Rahim, uncle of the victim, filed a case against Nazrul and five other people with Kapasia police station. After examining the records and witnesses, Judge of Gazipur Women & Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Syed Jahed Monsur handed down the verdict.
