A mobile court in a drive yesterday (Saturday) unearthed a type of medicine meant for distribution among Army and Navy staffs on sale at some pharmacies at Bandartila in Chittagong. The court also seized a certain amount of the medicine named ‘Flucloxin’. The court is seizing huge amount of medicines meant for free distribution at the government hospitals and healthcare centres from the pharmacies every day. This is the first time any mobile court found medicine meant for free distribution among the members of armed forces and Navy on sale at the drugstores.
The court fined three medicine shops Tk 65,000 for selling medicine for defense staffs, government medicines, physicians’ samples, unapproved foreign medicines and harmful food supplements during the drive in Bandartila area under EPZ Police Station from 11:00am to 2:30pm.The court also seized huge amount of government medicines from the drugstores. Executive magistrate Ruhul Amin conducted the drive. He said, “We found the medicines for defense staffs and government hospitals on sale in Raz pharmacy near Navy Hospital in Bandartila.” The court fined Raz Medico Tk 40,000, Gowtam’s Pharmacy Tk 15,000 and People’s Pharmacy Tk 10,000.
