Lightning kills three in Netrakona

NETRAKONA: At least three persons, including two minor girls, were killed and four others injured by lightning in Hasnagaon, Bhobanipur and Kurakhali Gobindapur villages in Kalmakanda upazila yesterday, reports BSS. The deceased were identified as Morzina Akter, 11, Zuma Akter, 9, and Sorafat Ali, 60. “Morzina, daughter of Khizir Ali, and Zuma, daughter of Kalachan, died on the spot as lightning struck them when they were standing on their house premises during the rainfall and Sorafat died instantly as he was hit by a thunderbolt while he was going to his crop field to bring back his cattle”, said Bashir Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kalmakanda police station.
The others injured are Suma, 13, Ruksana, 4, and Khadiza Akter, 42, of the Hasnaganon village and Bannya, 18, of Bhabanipur village.
