Int’l confce on STI 4.0 held at Green University

A two-day international conference on Sustainable Technologies for Industry 4.0 (STI 2019) was held at Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) recently.
The conference began on the permanent campus of GUB in Rupganj area of Purbachal American City in the capital on Tuesday.
GUB’s Faculty of Science and Engineering organised the international conference with a view to get ready for facing challenges of fourth industrial revolution.
University Grants Commission (UGC) member Prof Md Sazzad Hossain inaugurated the programme as the chief guest while GUB Vice-chancellor Prof Md Golam Samdani Fakir and Pro-VC Prof Md Abdur Razzaque were present as patron and general chair of the conference respectively. In inaugural session speakers said that the aim of the conference is discussion over the research findings and share regarding the designs, issues of implementation, and challenges of technologies those will be in work as driving forces in the fourth industrial revolution.
A total of 207 papers were submitted by the students and teachers of EEE, Computer science and engineering and Textile Engineering departments of different universities to present at the conference. Three papers are selected for the ‘Best Paper’ award.
2-day HSC reunion in Rajshahi College ends

A two-day reunion celebration of the HSC alumnus of Rajshahi College, one of the oldest and largest educational institutions in the country, ended amidst huge joy and enthusiasm on Saturday midnight.
Established in 1873, the college hosted this type of festival for its old and current HSC students for the first time in its long 147-years history. Principal of the college Professor Habibur Rahman told BSS that more than 10,000 students including some 8,400 alumnus from 1947 to 2021 took part in the celebration. The two-day festival included colourful rally, batch-wise reminiscence, cultural functions, photo sessions and the closing fireworks.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni attended the opening ceremony as chief guest while State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam and State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak as special guests. Prof Rahman mentioned that successful holding of the festival has added a new dimension to the college’s previous achievements.
Rajshahi College has been adjudged as the country’s best educational institution for the fourth consecutive year for its outstanding performance in the academic arena since 2016.
National University also declared the college as the country’s best one on the basis of its ranking. It is said to be the third oldest institutions of higher education in Bangladesh after Dhaka College and Chittagong College.
Within a short period after its establishment in 1873, the college became one of the main centres of higher education for the inhabitants of East Bengal, North Bengal, Bihar and Assam.
