The 21st death anniversary of Tebhaga Movement leader comrade Hemanta Sarkar was observed in Narail in a befitting manner on Saturday.
Hemanta Sarker Mrityubarsiki Udjapan Parshad chalked out a day long programme to mark the day. The programme of the day began with placing floral wreaths at 10 am and singing ‘communist international’ at the grave of the veteran communist leader who passed underground and imprisoned life above sixty years of his 88 years’ life. Later, at 11 am a commemoration meeting was held at the premises of the graveyard of Comrade Sarker with Rabindranath Adhikary in the chair.
Hemanta Sarker was born in 1910 in a poor peasant family. He was a central leader of East Pakistan Communist Party (EPCP ML) and Purba Banglar Communist Party and a close associate of left politics legend Comrade Abdul Haque. He was one of the key pioneers of historic ‘Tevaga Movement’ in Narail. The life long bachelor peasant leader died on 28 December, 1998 at Narail.
