Journo can play vital role to build developed nation

Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque yesterday urged the journalists to play a responsible role in discharging their duties for building a developed nation. Terming the mass media as watchdog of the society the mayor called upon the journalists to project highly and extend unrelenting support to the pro-liberation forces to honour three million people who embraced martyrdom for the cause the country in the liberation struggle in 1971 .
He was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the annual general meeting (AGM) -2019 of Khulna Press Club (KPC) at its Liakat Ali auditorium. The mayor said Bangladesh is moving fast keeping pace with the developed world to become a developed nation under the prudent leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The whole world will soon be overwhelmed witnessing unprecedented progress of Bangladesh under the political sagacity and far sighted leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he added.
Chaired by KPC president SM Habib, Bangladesh Jute Association (BJA) Chairman Sayed Ali, President of Income Tax Lawyers Association Monirul Huda Freedom Fighter Mahbubur Rahman, Daily Purbanchal Editor Mohammad Ali Sony, senior journalists Mokbul Hossain Mintu, S M Nazrul Islam, Mahbub Alam Sohag, and Mostofa Sarwar, also spoke on the occasion.
