Housewife slaughtered in Faridpur

A housewife was slaughtered allegedly by her husband at Dorja Purura village in Saltha upazila on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Shilpi Begum, 22, wife of Rana Sheikh of the village.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Faridpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy around 8 am, said Md Ali Zinnat, officer-in-charge of Saltha Police Station. Shilpi Begum was married to Rana around five years back and they a have three years old daughter.
Rana went into hiding soon after the murder incident.
Police arrested Tuhin Sheikh, a suspected associate of Rana who helped him to flee the scene.
Victim's father Shahjahan Molla filed a case with Saltha Police Station on Saturday, the OC added.
Teacher burnt to death
UNB, Panchagarh
A retired teacher who suffered burns while basking fire died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Nazmul Haque, 70, of Malipara village in Sadar upazila. He taught at Bishnu Prashad Government High School.
Family members said his clothes caught fire leaving him critically on December 20. He was first taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital from where he was shifted to DMCH. He succumbed to his injures at noon, said Hafizabad Union Parishad Chairman Mucha Kolimullah.
Old man crushed under train

An old man was crushed to death under the running inter city Sagorika express train bound for Chattogram via Laksham from Chandpur on Friday afternoon in Bakila area under Hajiganj upazila of Chandpur-Laksham rail route.
The deceased was identified as Serajul Islam, 65, a furniture trader and a veteran BNP member, hailed from Bakla village under Bakila Union in Hajiganj Upazila.
Chandpur Railway Police OC Sarwar Alam said, while Seraj was crossing the rail track, he was hit suddenly by the train and was crushed to death on the spot. On being informed of, Railway Police rushed to the spot later and recovered the broken pieces of the body in the afternoon.
