BNP slams PM for �arresting its people�
Denouncing the arrest of BNP activists, the partys vice-chairman, Shah Moazzem Hossain, has said that Prime Minister Shekh Hasina has turned the country into a jail. What do you want to achieve by carrying out such mass arrests, he asked addressing the Prime Minister. At a meeting to protest the arrest of BNP activists at the National Press Club yesterday (Friday), he said: Each day, some 500-1,000 of our activists are being arrested unlawfully. I ask the government to declare that no party men, other than AL supporters, can stay in the country. The meeting was organised by the Jatiyotabadi Prottagoto Probasee Dol. The PM has won an award on environment. But the irony is, Dhaka has ranked as the second least livable city in the world for the third consecutive year. She must get the award. Many people have disappeared during her tenure; unborn babies are getting shot in their mothers womb. She certainly deserves international awards, said Moazzem Hossain. About local body elections with party symbol, he said holding the elections under party banners is unjustified. The main accused in the seven-murder case in Narayanganj should not have been handed over to RAB for interrogation, as a senior officer of the force was directly involved in the killings, he said. The police say they have not found any clue in the Tabela Caesar murder case, but the PM blames the BNP. Did Khaleda Zia kill him through remote control from London, he asked. He said democracy does not have any meaning in the country today. You can hold meetings, bring out processions but we cant. A Prime Minister cannot behave in this manner.
