Professor Mia Golam Parwar, who was a Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has been sworn in as new secretary general of the party. Jamaat's Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman administered an oath to Mia Golam Parwar yesterday, handing him duties from 2020-2022, the party's publicity wing said in a statement on Thursday. Mia Golam Parwar, a former lawmaker from Khulna-5 constituency during eighth general elections held in 2001, has been involved with politics since his student life.
He joined Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Chhatra League in 1974 and switched to Islami ideological student politics in 1977. He has been involved with Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat, since its establishment.
Mia Golam Parwar was a journalist from Khulna and also served as a lecturer at Khulna Islamia College for two years.
He joined in Jamaat upon completion of his studies, the statement added.
