Asif Kabir, a former assistant press secretary to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has joined as the media consultant of the National Implementation Committee for Celebration of Bangabandhu’s Birth Centenary next year, said a press release. The Bangladesh government is chalking out the country's biggest-ever nationwide programme to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from March 17-26, 2020. Kabir earlier acted as PM Hasina’s assistant press secretary for two consecutive terms spanning over a decade, starting from 2009. His father was late Humayun Kabir Bilu, former president of Khulna Press Club. Bilu was killed in 2004 by some terrorists’ in front of his own newspaper office—Daily Janmabhumi—in Khulna.
