GAZIPUR: Department of Environment (DoE) fined Tk 34 lakh to the owners of two dyeing factories in Shilmon area of Tongi in Gazipur on Thursday for polluting environment by discharging fluid waste without treatment and operating the factory without licence. Department of Environment (DoE) sources said it’s director (Monitoring and enforcement) AKM Mizanur Rahman fined the owners of the factories after called them at its head office in Dhaka on Thursday at the parts of operation against environmental pollution. Sources said, Sharp Knitting and Dyeing Limited and MR Tex limited in Shilmon area of Tongi in Gazipur have been fined Tk 33 lakh and Tk one lakh respectively for operating it’s factory without any licence and implementation of effluent treatment plant (ETP) and polluting environment by discharging fluid waste to the Turag River and others low land.
