At least 10 people were injured and several houses torched during a clash between activists of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) and Awami League in Bheramara upazila yesterday. It is alleged that JSD men torched several houses of Awami League men at about 8:00 am hearing the news that one of their colleagues who sustained injures in a clash with Awami League activists died at a Dhaka hospital. Bablu, 35, an activist of JSD Bheramara unit, suffered injuries in the clash at Chandgram village in Bheramara upazila on November 6. He died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital during the early hours yesterday. As the news spread, the agitating JSD activists set fire to the houses of the ruling party men in the morning, said Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bheramara police station, quoting local people said. The AL leaders and activists fled their homes in the face of the attack. Convener of Chandgram union unit of Juba League Mosfir also came under attack. Later, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to avert any further untoward incident, the OC added.
