Bangladesh Police FC tasted their first win in the TVS Federation Cup Football defeating Arambagh KS by 3-1 yesterday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. Bangladesh Police FC, who began their top flight competition with bitter experiences of 4-0 defeat at the hands of the defending champions Abahani Limited, had the result of their hard working in the second match.
After winning the match Police have almost confirmed the chance to move into the last eight, rather than Arambagh would make any big upset defeating Abahani Limited with big margin in their Group A last match. Arambagh could not get rid of their casino controversy, as some of their high ups were allegedly engaged with the illegal dealings and ultimately they failed formed a formidable team and or appointed any qualified coach.
However, the Police FC celebrated the deserving win demonstrating better performances against the half strength Arambagh. On the day Police began with some good pace and disciplined game went closer to take lead in the very ninth minute but Arambagh goalkeeper Rakibul Islam Shawon was brilliant to save the attempt. Arambagh also got a chance in the counterattack but veteran Abdul Baten Komol’s effort was also saved by Police keeper.
Rivera Sidney of USA led Police on 32nd minute with a good header on a lofted ball came to his ways from right side (1-0). Revera doubled the margin both for him and the team on 72nd minute and this time it was a powerful effort from inside the box having a cross from Luka (2-0).
Thanks to Police defender Artur Maladzhanov, Arambgh could reduce one goal when the ball entered into the net hitting Kyrgyzstan’s defender on 85th minute (1-2). Revera after scoring two goals assisted one for Shadin when the youngster ran faster to receive a cross from the former and powered it into the net giving no chance to defenders or the goalkeeper in the second minute of three minutes injury period (3-1).
