Leader of inter-district robbers gang held

An alleged leader of an inter-district robbery gang was arrested atDaspara village in Kotchandpur upazila early yesterday. The arrested gang leader has been identified as Shapan Gazi, 30, of the same village.  Additional superintendent of police in Jhenidah Azbahar Ali Sheikh said Gazi was wanted in several cases, including murder and robbery. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive in the area at about 4:30 am while a gang of bandits, numbering 10 to 12, was preparing to commit robbery. Sensing the arrival of police, all but the gang leader could flee the place.
