Bangladesh not to play any Test in Pakistan

Bangladesh not to play any Test in Pakistan

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) yesterday insisted that they would stick to their decision of not playing at Test match in Pakistan, considering the obstacles players’ might face for staying a long period in Pakistan. After the BCB refused to send its national team to Pakistan for the two Test match series, the PCB in reply, had asked the BCB to explain reservations over playing Tests making it clear that playing Test cricket in another country is not an option now for Pakistan.

Talking to the reporters at the SBNCS yesterday, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury told reporters, “We’re still in touch with Pakistan Cricket Board and trying to convince them why we are refusing to play Test cricket there. The main thing is we aren’t prone to stay in Pakistan for a longer period of time and we’ve already informed them about it. So, we agreed to play three T20s there and asked them to arrange the two Test matches at neutral venue.”

Explaining why the BCB showed reluctance to play Test cricket in Pakistan, Nizamuddin said, “Recently the question arouse why we don’t want to play Test cricket? Actually, security analysts know quite well there is a difference between long and short term stay in Pakistan. So, security is one of them. There are some other issues too. Players have to stay within a certain boundary and there will be restriction on their movement. Considering all those things we’ve taken such decision.”

“The PCB wants full series to be played and thinking as their own. But we made our position clear to them. All the reasons have been clearly mentioned,” he said.

“Keeping the security concern in mind we suggested the PCB to arrange all the matches at a single venue.  Based on everything, it’s now their turn to reconsider it,” he further added.

The BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon also earlier stated that players’ opinion will be taken into consideration and the BCB won’t force any player to tour Pakistan.

Replying to another query Nizamuddin told reporters, “We’ve already got a govt intelligence report. We talked with Bangladesh High Commission to Pakistan and still communicating with them because security is our utmost priority. Again, you all know that the ICC gets involved in international events. So, we will try to get the ICC’s independent opinion too.”

The BCB CEO also confirmed there won’t be any further investigation about the tour.
