Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad yesterday said BNP chief Khaleda Zia is begging for a dialogue but that she won’t get the chance.
“The BNP was called for a dialogue repeatedly but they remained unresponsive. Now they are begging for it. I shall never have a dialogue with them,” he said while addressing a conference of the party’s Comilla north district unit.
Ershad, who is also a special envoy to the prime minister, said he would not join any other alliance as he has seen all the alliances from ‘four to fourteen’. He said they all betrayed him and did not look after him. “Jatiya Party has got nothing from the BNP and Awami League. So, it will contest the next election of its own after reorganising the party,” he said.
The former president expressed his hope that the country’s democracy and te rule of law would be restored if Jatiya Party led by him goes to power. He alleged that both the BNP and Awami League went to power with his party’s assistance but they frustrated him tactfully. He also criticised the govt for its failure in ensuring safety and security of the people and their properties.
