One of the seven Jamaat-e-Islami activists arrested in connection with Wednesday’s petrol bomb attack on a bus in Chandina upazila reportedly confessed to his crime before a Comilla court yesterday, reports UNB.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Sazzad Hosain recorded the statement of Abdur Razzak, hailing from Sholakia village in Sudharam upazila of Noakhali district, under Section 164, said officer-in-charge of Chandina Police Station Rasul Ahamad Nizami.
Earlier, joint force in an overnight drive on Wednesday arrested seven leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from different places of the upazila in connection with the petrol bomb attack.
The other arrestees are Abul Bashar, 63, ameer of the Chandina upazila unit Jamaat, and Obaidullah, Muhibullah, Omar Faruk, Rafiqul Islam and Nayan.
Prabir Kumar Roy, assistant sub-inspector of Chandina Police Station, filed a case against 15 named and 15/20 unnamed people on Wednesday night.
