Based on statistics from the Office of Yunnan Provincial Committee on Aging (as of September 2015), the province has registered a total of 1,329 centenarians. Of all prefectures and prefecture-level cities, Zhaotong ranks first with 184 centenarians, followed by Kunming with 170 centenarians, and Diqing comes last with just 7 centenarians. Dalanwan, the 122-year-old Lisu woman living in Gongshan County of Nujiang Prefecture is still the most elderly this year.
According to the Office of Yunnan Provincial Committee on Aging, Yunnan is the first province in China to establish a sound aging subsidy system. By the end of this year, each of 80-99 year olds can receive a health subsidy of no less than 50 yuan per month, and each of centenarians can receive a longevity subsidy of no less than 300 yuan per month. The subsidies will be raised year by year. By late June this year, nearly 780,000 old people have received health subsidies; the average health subsidy for 80-99 year olds has reached 54 yuan per month; and the average longevity subsidy for centenarians has reached 412 yuan per month.
