Digital centres bring enormous benefits to common people

Setting up of the union digital centres (UDCs) has become an epoch-making initiative to bring enormous benefits to common people accelerating the pace of national development, reports BSS.
Implementation of the digitisation programme has already become successful centering on the digital centres to reduce corruption and establish transparency in service delivery systems to push Bangladesh rapidly towards a middle income nation.
The views were expressed at a post-rally discussion arranged at Panchagarh Government auditorium this afternoon in observance of the 5th founding anniversary of digital centres at union and pourashava levels in the sub-Himalayan district.
Panchagarh district administration in association with the Access to Information (A2I) Programme of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) organised the discussion after bringing out a huge colourful rally in the streets.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin attended the discussion as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mahmudul Alam in the chair. People’s Perspective Expert of A2I Programme of the PMO Naimuzzaman Mukta spoke as special guest.
Government officials, union parishad chairmen, entrepreneurs of the UDCs, addressed among others.
The speakers said digitisation and internet facilities have created a social renaissance by reaching government services to people’s doorsteps quickly in a hassle-free manner through the UDCs and other web portals. There is no alternative to learn and utilise Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in ensuring easier access of the mass people to information, computers, internet facilities and digital devices in building a medium income nation, they said.
Naimuzzaman Mukta elaborated the process of digitisation that has been progressing encouragingly from the bottom to the top layers leading Bangladesh towards the esteemed success of building a middle income digital nation very soon.
He said the government launched the A2I Programme with the vision of reaching all services to the people at their doorsteps quickly and easily in a hassle-free manner through the digitised ICT at the lowest costs.Besides, the government has set up e-service centres and web-portals at all district and upazila headquarters, pourashavas and city corporations and the directorates and ministries would provide similar automated services in phases, he said.
The chief guest called upon everyone for working sincerely in making the Vision 2021 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina successful by reaching government services easily to the peoples’ doorsteps using digitised ICT and internet facilities.
