Local Government, Rural Development and Co- operatives (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam yesterday said the government will construct five sewage treatment plants with a view to freeing Dhaka city and its surrounding rivers from pollution. “Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant is going to be constructed at a cost of Taka 3,318 crore and other four plants will be built in Pagla, Rayer Bazar, Uttara and Mirpur,” said the minister while talking to journalists after visiting sewage lifting station located adjacent to Rampura Bridge and Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant situated in east Aftabnagar of the city.
