ACC detains two EC staff in Ctg

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday detained two employees of Election Commission (EC) offices of Chattogram and Bandarban districts for their alleged involvement in providing NID cards among Rohingyas and including them in voter lists. The detained identified as Rishikesh Das, office assistant of senior district EC office, Chattogram and Nirupam Kanti Nath, data entry operator of Bandarban district EC, office were rounded up from separate areas of the port city.

Luftul Kabir Chandan, deputy director of ACC, told BSS that the detained EC employees earned a huge amount of money amounting to Tk 69.07 lakh by distributing NID cards among Rohingya people and inserting them into the voter lists. Mohammad Sharif Uddin, deputy assistant director of ACC, filed separate cases under Money Laundering Preventive Act-2012 and Bangladesh Penal Code against them.
