Remove Mithila, Rumpa intimate photos from social media sites : HC

The High Court yesterday directed to remove soon all the intimate and personal photos of Rafiath Rashid Mithila and Iftekhar Ahmed Fahmi from social media including Facebook and online news portals. After hearing on a writ, a High Court bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman also asked for taking steps to remove personal photos of Stamford University student Rubaiya Sharmin Rumpa, who was found dead in Dhaka’s Siddheshwari on Wednesday night.

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) was asked to implement the order. Information secretary, home ministry secretary and BTRC were made respondents to the writ.

Earlier on Thursday, Barrister Tahsina Tasnim filed a public interest litigation challenging the legality of not removing all intimate photos of Mithila and Fahmi from facebook, internet and online news portals.
