Armed criminals yesterday snatched Tk 11lakh from a man at Badda in the capital after shooting him in broad day light.
The victim, identified as Shahin Sikder, 25, hailing from Patuakhali district, came to the city for finalising the purchase of a piece of land. He was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said Inspector Mozammel Haque, in-charge of DMCH police camp.
One of Shahin’s relatives said he recently bought a land from one Zahir Uddin of Bada area. Shahin, along with his elder brother Jalal Uddin and his wife Rashida, were going to Bepari Tower in Sonar Katra area of Badda where the land seller lives.
When they reached near the seller’s residence around 5pm, a group of miscreants shot at Shahin’s leg and escaped after snatching a bag he was carrying the money in. Inspector Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge of Badda Police Station, admitted the incident and said they were conducting a raid to nab the snatchers and recover the money.
