Bangladesh ready to take Nur Hossain

STAFF REPORTER

The Bangladesh government is ready to receive the prime accused in the Narayanganj seven murder case, Nur Hossain, who was arrested in Kolkata, India, for trial.
A home ministry official said they will receive Nur Hossain from a border point after getting a date from the Indian authorities, much the same way in which ULFA leader Anup Chetia has been handed over to India.
Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, “We'll bring him back when the Indian authorities will inform us about sending back Nur Hossain to Bangladesh. But they haven't specified the date of his return.”
“Nur’s return does not mean that he will be exchanged for Anup Chetia,” he added.
The home ministry said the paperwork to bring Nur Hossain back has been completed as per the courts’ verdict.
On October 16, West Bengal court had ordered to send Nur Hossain back home to face trial for seven murders in Narayanganj.
The Bangladesh government requested the Indian government to hand over Hossain to them after the Indian court’s verdict and completed all necessary requirement to bring him back.
Following the directions of Interpol, Nur Hossain and his two associates, Selim and Sumon, were arrested by an anti-terrorism squad of Kolkata police from Dum Dum area on charges of entering India without legal passport and visa on June 14, 2014. The police also seized a loaded revolver, 10 SIM cards, a laptop, a pen drive, a CD, and some papers from their possession.
Nur Hossain, Awami League (AL) leader and ward councillor in Narayanganj, had managed to flee to Kolkata after murdering panel mayor Nazrul Islam, advocate Chandan Sarker and five others in Narayanganj.
