AIUB Indoor Games begins
American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), has organizd a 7-day long indoor games competition titled AIUB Indoor Games 2015 from Monday at the Business Administration Building of the university, says a press release.
Pro-vice-chancellor of AIUB, Professor Dr Charles C. Villanueva inaugurated the competition. Director (Student Affairs) Manzur H. Khan and Director (BBA Programme) & Coordinator (Office of Sports) A K Nazmul, Departmental Heads from different departments were present, among others, on this occasion. Also a large number of Faculty members, Officers and students from different departments of AIUB and the representatives from the media partner were also present at the inauguration event.
Workshop on academic course curricula held
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) organised a daylong workshop on Evaluation and Updating of Course Curricula of BS Agriculture programme yesterday at the university auditorium, says a press release.
Vice-chancellor of the university Prof Md Mahbubar Rahman was present as chief guest and delivered the inaugural speech. In his speech, Vice-chancellor said, agricultural science, like other sciences, is changing rapidly in the global arena. Now-a-days, subsistence agriculture has shifted to commercial farming due to modern mechanisation. He underlined the need for improving and updating course curricula of undergraduate program like that of the post-graduate programmes, of the Oregon State University of USA. It may be worthwhile to mention here that BSMRAU is the only public university of this country which runs on course-credit system.
Treasurer of the University Prof. Dr. Md. Ismail Hossain Mian was present as special guest. Prof Dr M Abdul Karim Dept of Agronomy BSMRAU and SPM, HEQEP Sub-project was present as the key note speaker. Prof. Dr Qazi Abdul Khaliq, Dean Faculty of Agriculture presided over the programme. All faculty members, scientist of BARI, BRRI and related officers participated at the workshop.
DIU signs MOU with 20 universities
Daffodil International University (DIU) signed 20 bilateral Memorandum of Understandings (MOU) and 1 Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with top graded world renowned universities including USA, Taiwan, Indonesia, Chile, Cambodia, Russia, Korea and Japan at 14th Asian University Presidents Forum (AUPF) 2015 held from November 5 to 8, says a press release.
With the theme “Asian Higher Education Connectivity: Vision, Process and Approach”, this year’s AUPF is hosted by the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), Guangzhou, China.
These separate bilateral agreements aim and form of co-operation on: Exchange students, Exchange Faculty Members, Exchange in Research, Twinning Programmes and Centers of Excellence. Through these MOU, DIU students will get the opportunity to enjoy lot of international collaboration such as branch campuses, cross-border collaborative arrangements, programmes for international students, establishing English-medium programmes and degrees. Md Sabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil International University signed the MOU on behalf of DIU. He was also among the keynote speakers and presented his speech on “Asian Higher Education Connectivity: Vision, Process and Approach”.
A two members’ delegation comprising Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees and Ahemed Shamim Ansary, Special Assistant to Chairman & Assistant Director, DIU participated at 14th Asian University Presidents Forum (AUPF) 2015.
ULAB holds programme
The Center for Enterprise and Society (CES) organised a programme titled CES Talk Series: The Road to Middle-Income: Bangladesh's Growth Story
at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday, says pres release.
Renowned banker K Mahmood Sattar presented a talk entitled “The Road to Middle-Income: Bangladesh’s Growth Story”. The talk was a part of ULAB’s ongoing initiative known as the CES Speaker Series. The talk attended by the Vice-chancellor of ULAB Professor Imran Rahman; ULAB Registrar Lt Col Md Foyzul Islam (Retd); Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr Jahirul Haque; CES adviser Sajid Amit; Deans, Faculty members and Researchers at ULAB. Sattar was invited to speak about his 33 years of experience in the Bangladesh banking sector, including his stint as the CEO and MD of the City Bank and Eastern Bank, as well as his directorship at reputed organisations such as the Association of Bankers Bangladesh, BRAC Bank and bKash. He shared a lively story of Bangladesh’s growth as he lived it and contributed to it.
