4,159 tonnes of onion imported

A total of 4,159 metric tonnes (MT) of onion were imported through different ports in the country on Thursday.

Of the total, 1,227 MT onion have entered the country through Teknaf, and 2,932 MT through Chattogram Sea Port, a Ministry of Commerce

press release said in Dhaka yesterday.

Of the total amount of onion brought on Thursday, 1,227 MT came from Myanmar, 384 MT from China, 84 MT from Egypt and 2,500 MT from Turkey.

According to the commerce ministry, this import would continue till the supply of onion and its price becomes normal in the country.
