Gono Forum leaders in the city yesterday called for forging a national unity to overcome the ‘current crisis’ of the country, reports UNB.
They came forward with the call at a human chain programme in front of the National Press Club protesting the deterioration in law and order situation and demanding trial of all the killings.
Violence has spread like epidemic in the country, said Gono Forum secretary general Mustafa Mohsin Montu adding that no one, not even women and children, is safe now. Alongside the common people, law enforcers are not even safe, he added.
Montu said all the political parties should come forward to establish national unity to protect the country and its people.
Gono Forum organising secretary Rafiqul Islam and joint-general secretary Mostaq Ahmed were present at the programme.
