Shamim Osman sued in Nganj hawker eviction drive case

Twenty-two months after the incident, a case has been filed against Awami League leader Shamim Osman, lawmaker of Narayanganj-4 constituency, and eight others over a clash during a hawkers eviction drive at Chashara intersection on January 16, 2018.
GMA Sattar, law officer of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) filed the case with the Senior Judicial Magistrates Court, said Court Inspector Asaduzzaman.
Judge Begum Fahmida Khatun took the case into cognizance and ordered the Sadar Police Station to investigate the matter.
Sources said supporters of Shamim Osman attacked Narayanganj City Mayor Salina Hayat Ivy during hawkers eviction drive at Chashara intersection living her injured.
Later, police of Narayanganj Police Station recorded a General Diary over the attack and refrained from filing the case.
Meanwhile, a three-member probe body was formed led
by Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasim Uddin Haidar to investigate the case but the body is yet to submit their
report in this regard.
