Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) authorities have suspended eight students on different terms for their involvement in ragging. The ragging incident took place previously at the university’s Titumir Hall. The students were also expelled from the dormitory, said a BUET press release yesterday. A BUET board (Residence and Discipline) took the decision after a report was submitted by a committee formed to investigate the recent ragging incident at the hall.
Six other students were also suspended from the hall on the same ground. The authorities issued them warning so that such incidents do not repeat in future. Nine other students were suspended on November 28 from the Suhrawardy and Ahsan Ullah halls on charges of ragging.
The board suspended 21 students from their respective dormitories for different terms and alerted them not to repeat such an act in future.
