Even if there is a seating arrangement of 26,000 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS), Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has prepared their 8,000-seat arrangement for the inaugural ceremony of the Bangabandhu-Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon stated to media at the SBNCS after visiting the galleries and the stage for the concert of the Bangabandhu-BPL.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the gala opening ceremony of the special BPL scheduled to be held at the SBNCS in Mirpur on December 8.

“Since we can’t arrange seats right beside or behind the stage, we only can allow few number of spectators in the opening programme. In total, the number of seats will be around 8000,” Nazmul Hassan said.

“If you look at from the press box to Shaheed Jewel Stand to Grand Stand, it is not possible to arrange more than 8,000 seats. Among those 5000 seats will be allocated for general spectators," Papon told reporters.

The BCB president said they have nothing to do despite having high demands for the tickets of the BPL opening ceremony. But the BCB boss also said maximum 1000 chairs will be placed on the field.

“This time it's too restricted. The demand is very high but there is not enough space left. Again, we can’t take any risk to spoil the pitch ahead of the stage. So the number has reduced that we previously thought,” he said.

“But we've finalized that some seats will be allocated only for the VVIPs in front of the stage,” he added.

Earlier, BCB president handed over sporting cycles to BCB Physically Challenged Cricket Team captain Mohammad Moshin on the day of International Disability Day.

The Physically Challenged Team will tour in India on December 16 to play a four-nation Uttarakhand Wheeelchair Cup-2, which will kick off December 20.

Bangladesh team was championed in the maiden edition of the Uttarakhand Wheelchair Cup which was played with the participation of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh and hosts India.
