23 fishermen held; 29 maunds of crab seized in Bagerhat
UNB, Bagerhat
Members of Forest Department detained 23 fishermen and seized 29 maunds of crab, a trawler and some crab-catching traps from Bogi area in East Sundarbans area of Sharankhola upazila here on Monday night.
Md Mahmudul Hasan, divisional forest officer (DFO) of the Sundarbans East Division, said members of Forest Department detained the fishermen from the area during regular patrol in the forest.
A case was filed against them on Tuesday morning and they will be produced before court.
Girls beheaded body found
UNB, Sylhet
Police recovered the beheaded body of a young girl in Ghugnighar wetland area in Osmani Nagar upazila here on Monday night.
The identity of the deceased could not be known yet.
Md Rashed Mobarak, officer-in-charge of Osmaninagar Police Station, said informed by locals, police recovered the partially decomposed body of the girl, age about 20, from the area around 8pm. The body was sent to morgue for autopsy, he added.
Woman burnt to death
UNB, Panchagarh
A woman died in hospital on Monday after suffering severe burns in a fire that broke out in Taltala area of Debiganj upazila.
The victim was identified as Sweety Aktar, 45, wife of Suruzzamal of the area.
Sweety succumbed to her wounds at the Burn Unit of Rangpur Medical College and Hospital (RMCH), said Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Prattay Hasan.
Both the Fire Service and police said that Sweety, who ran a shop in the area, was transferring petrol into a small container from a large jar holding them above a lit candle during load-shedding on Sunday evening.
