After a long hiatus of 12 years, architect-turned-filmmaker Enamul Karim Nirjhar--who won the National Film Award for his debut movie ‘Aha!’--has announced his return to film making with his second venture ‘Byapaar’ (In Fact).
With an uncommon theme, a poster and a teaser of the film were recently released on the both Facebook and YouTube.
Regarding his long break, the director told the media, “I was lost in the decision process--what type of film should I make, who would be the target audience of the film, who will finance it, what type of criticism will follow the film and other variables. Although my first film reached the audience at different film festivals around the world, lamentation over not being able to show the film to local audience still haunting me. So, I took a break to compose myself and return to film making once again.”
Keeping the upcoming 50th anniversary of Bangladesh in mind, the film ‘Byapaar’ is going to be made.
To note, Nirjhar’s directorial debut ‘Aha!’ was released in 2007 and earned huge admiration from both country and abroad by participating different foreign film festivals.
