Chattogram-8 bypoll on Jan 13

The byelection to the Chattogram-8 parliamentary constituency will be held on January 13, the Election Commission (EC) announced yesterday (Sunday). In addition, elections to the Dupchachia municipality of Bagura district and Haimchar upazila of Chandpur district will be held on the same day.  The EC announced that electronic voting machines (EVMs) would be used in these elections. The commission disclosed this information during the announcement of the schedule of the elections by its secretary, Md Alamgir, at Election Bhaban in the capital.  Under the schedule, the last date of submitting the nomination papers will be December 12 while the scrutiny of the nomination papers will be carried out on December 15. The last day of withdrawal would be on December 22.
