Bangladesh will have to play first three matches inside four days in the XIII SA Games football when the fixture and the formation of the event were rescheduled after India withdrawing their names from the event. The organisers announced the fresh fixture and formation after being forced to make the reschedule and the formation of the Games’ football as India withdrew their names at the eleventh hour on Wednesday evening.

According to the earlier fixture and the formation, Bangladesh team were drawn in the Group A along with Nepal and Bhutan and were supposed to begin their campaign on December 1 with taking on the hosts Nepal. But after Indian team’s withdrawal, the competition will take place in round robin league system and it will begin on December 2. Top two teams will contest for gold medal in men’s football.

Bangladesh will begin their campaign with taking on Bhutan on the opening day on December 2 instead of Nepal. Meanwhile, the highest time (four times) gold medal winners Pakistan are not also participating in the event of this edition and five teams will fight for the gold medal this time. However, Bangladesh will play their second match against Maldives on December 3, third match on December 5 against Sri Lanka when they will have two days break before their last match of league phase with taking on Nepal on December 8.
