A total of six different kinds of shop and a madrasa were gutted in a fire that broke out at Boirag village under Anwara upazila of the district in the early yesterday. Jashim Uddin, Deputy Assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defense, said the fire originated from a cooking oven at a shop in the area around 4.45 am and quickly engulfed the adjacent shops. Two firefighting units from Anwara areas rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control around 6.15 am. Local fire service officials claimed that the fire damaged properties worth about Taka three lakh.
