New business models for cultural tourism in Yunnan
RV camping
According to the Key Tasks of Yunnan Province in Accelerating Transformation and Upgrading of Tourism Industry, announced in 2017, the province plans to build 100 camping bases, develop five chains, organize car rental companies and develop 20 internationally renowned self-driving tourism routes, either within the province or crossing the borders to other provinces and countries, by 2020.
Sports tourism
In recent years, Yunnan has promoted the integration of sports and tourism and accelerated the construction of sports tourism bases and routes. By 2020, Yunnan will build 30 sports tourism bases, develop 10 internationally renowned hiking and sports tourism routes and introduce 20 international sports tourism events.
Smart tourism
The Yunnan at Your Fingertips project was launched on October 1st, 2018, to promote smart tourism in the province. To date, the smart phone app, available in both Chinese and English, has integrated catering, hospitality, transport, scenic spots, large shopping malls, cultural and entertainment venues and health bases. It covers nearly 3,000 government departments, more than 300 scenic spots and more than 20,000 renowned companies.
Cultural tourism
Yunnan continues to comprehensively integrate culture and tourism, to transform and upgrade its tourism industry. The province plans to develop five ethnic cultural festivals, 15 characteristic cultural festivals and 10 quality shows to further boost its tourism by 2020.
Health tourism
In February 2018, Yunnan proposed transform into a world-class destination of green energy, green food and healthy living. The province plans to build 10 hiking routes and six demonstration hot spring resorts as a solid step towards a healthy life destination by the end of 2019.
