Week-long theatre fest ‘Notuner Utsab 2019’ to begin Nov 29

A seven-day long theatre festival titled ‘Notuner Utsab 2019’, featuring staging of new plays will begin on November 29 at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

Popular theatre troupe Nagorik Natya Sampradaya is organising the festival supported by Ministry of Culture, Unilever, Berger Paints and Dhaka Bank Limited.

The inaugural ceremony of the festival will be held on Friday, where State Minister of Cultural Affairs KM Khalid will be present as the chief guest.

Veteran artiste Ramendu Majumder, Chief Editor of Aranyak Natyadal Mamunur Rashid, President of Dhaka Theatre Nasiruddin Yousuff and Director General of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky will attend the event as special guests, while Vice President of Nagorik Natya Sampradaya Sara Zaker and General Secretary of the troupe Ataur Rahman will deliver the welcome speeches.

During the festival, seven new plays will be premiered at 7pm every day, at the National Theatre Hall, BSA. The plays have been selected by a jury board consisting cultural personality Tariq Anam Khan, professor Abdus Selim and senior members of the troupe Nagorik Natya Sampradaya.

During the festival Pantho Shahrear’s ‘Kalo Goler Kabbo’, Shamim Shagor’s ‘Radharomon’, Dr Ratan Siddique and Hridi Huq directed ‘Akashey Phuitese Phul-Letokahon’, Saidur Rahman Lipon’s ‘Aruproton’, Kazi Toufiqul Islam Emon’s ‘Khwabnama’, Shubasish Sinha’s ‘O Monpahia’ and Mustafiz Shahin’s ‘Lotari’ will be staged.

On the closing day of the festival, the troupe will honour four noted theatre personalities namely-- Ferdousi Majumdar, Josna Biswas, Lucky Inam and Shimul Yousuff.

To disclose the above information, a press conference was held recently seminar hall of BSA, where former Minister of Cultural Affairs, Asaduzzaman Noor was present among others.
