Two arrested for ‘violating’ schoolgirl

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) yesterday arrested two people from Palashpool area of the district town for reportedly raping a schoolgirl.

The arrestees were identified as Hossain Morol, 18, son of Hafizul Morol, and Akbar Ali Gazi, 38, son of Ansar Ali Gazi of Jethua village in Tala upazila.

Briefing reporters, acting company commander of Satkhira Rab Camp Lt BNM Mahmudur Rahman said Hossain developed an affair with the Class-VII girl. Later, he tactfully took the girl to a residential hotel near Satkhira Bus Terminal on Tuesday where he violated her.

Akbar took the video footage of the rape incident, he said, adding that later he also raped the girl threatening to upload the video on the internet.

Tipped off, the elite force conducted a drive at the hotel and arrested them, the Rab official said.
