Shawkat Mahmud gets bail in 3 cases

The High Court (HC) yesterday granted ad-interim bail to BNP chairperson's adviser Shawkat Mahmud for six months in three arson cases.
In response to three petitions filed by Shawkat, also a former president of National Press Club, the bench of justices M Enayetur Rahim and Md Amir Hossain gave the order.
The HC also issued three separate rules asking the government to explain in four weeks why the petitioner should not be granted regular bail in the cases.
