Road accidents kill 2 in Ctg

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Chattogram on Friday. Police sources said a motorcyclist Mohammad Ismail, 21, received injuries when a Chattogram-bound Marsha Passenger bus hit his motorcycle in Chunoti area of Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar road under Lohogara thana at 2 pm. He was rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead. In another accident, van puller Mohammad Kalam, 35, received serious injuries after being hit by a speedy passenger bus in Kumira area under Sitakunda upazila around 7 am. He was taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead. Two cases were filed.
Sixty held over drug offences

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has detained 60 people in separate drives in the capital over different drugs offences. Teams of different police stations and detective branch (DB) conducted the drives from 6 am of November 21 to 6am of November 22, a DMP release said on Friday. Police recovered 7,915 pieces of yaba tablets, 1469 grams of heroin, 1.965 kilograms of ganja, three bottles of whiskey and 37 sedative injections from their possessions. 44 cases have been filed with different police stations in this regard.
Confce on genocide-torture held

With the aim of making the memories of the 1971 Liberation War victims immortal, the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has set up the Genocide-Torture Archive and Museum in the country. This was stated by State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid while addressing as the chief guest at the 3rd International Conference on ‘Genocide of 1971, Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh and Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’, jointly arranged by 1971:Genocide-Torture Archive and Museum and Bangladesh Itihas Sammilani, at Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium of Bangla Academy on Friday. Chairman of 1971:Genocide-Torture Archive and Museum Trust Dr Muntassir Mamoon presided over the conference while Justice Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik presented a keynote paper on the topic.
